Oleksandra Avramenko on Ukraine, food security & resilience

Oleksandra Avramenko will be a valued keynote speaker of Cities Leading Food Production during VIV Europe 2026, addressing the vital importance of food security and resilience.

She is a leading Ukrainian expert on European integration in the agribusiness sector and serves as Head of the EU Integration Committee at the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), the country’s main association of major agricultural producers and exporters. Oleksandra also acts as Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

With a background in market intelligence, trade policy, and regulatory harmonisation, Avramenko focuses on aligning Ukrainian agriculture with EU standards under the Association Agreement/DCFTA, the European Green Deal, and accession negotiations—while protecting sectoral competitiveness amid wartime challenges.

During Grüne Woche in January this year, she declared: “Ukraine can complement and strengthen the strategic autonomy of the European Union.” She highlighted Ukraine’s potential contribution to the EU bioeconomy, green transition, and food-security resilience, while outlining the real costs of alignment and the need for pragmatic transition periods and mutual adaptation mechanisms.

Her efforts underscore a clear message: successful EU alignment requires partnership, predictability, and shared investment in a resilient, sustainable European food system.
